（中央社台北24日電）BBC報導，巴拿馬運河擴建工程將在6月26日舉行竣工通航儀式，巴拿馬已向70個國家元首及政府領導人發出正式邀請，包括總統當選人蔡英文及中國大陸國家主席習近平。
英國廣播公司（BBC）中文網報導，巴拿馬運河管理局行政長官季哈諾（Jorge Luis Quijano）23日宣布這項消息。BBC說，巴拿馬同時邀請兩岸領導人出席，藉此提升國際地位。
巴拿馬是中華民國邦交國。報導引述中華民國駐巴拿馬大使劉德立表示，已經收到「致中華民國新當選總統蔡英文博士」的邀請。
巴拿馬外交部發言人戴李昂（Monica de Leon）告訴BBC中文網，習近平也將受邀出席竣工典禮。
報導指出，中國大陸與巴拿馬自1996年起互設具有準外交功能的貿易發展辦事處，巴拿馬並在北京、上海與香港設有辦事處。大陸所設的貿易發展辦事處日前已將沿用多年的「中國－巴拿馬貿易辦事處」名稱提升至較高級別的「中華人民共和國代表處」。
據巴拿馬運河數據，中國大陸是巴拿馬運河第二大用戶國，僅次於美國；巴拿馬則為大陸在拉丁美洲第八大貿易夥伴和第四大出口目的地。1050324
